About Sue

Brief background info on our choir leader Sue Williams and accompanist Debbie Emmott-Dart.

SUE WILLIAMS

Sue has a formative background in freelance trumpet playing, having performed frequently with Southern Pro Musica, Pimlico Opera, the Wessex Brass Quintet, and many theatre pit orchestras in London and the South of England.More recently, her work as the Head of Music at Prince’s Mead School in Winchester has guided her to develop a passion for encouraging children to sing.

In 2020, her school Chamber Choir gained recognition as semi-finalist in the Songs of Praise Choir of the Year competition, only to be thwarted from competing further by Covid-related restrictions.
Sue is also passionate about arranging and writing music for Children’s Choirs, and her compositions are frequently featured in school productions and Carol Services.

Her love and enjoyment of singing has spread beyond the children she teaches, as she also ran a successful adult choir at Prince’s Mead.

DEBBIE EMMOTT-DART

Debbie is a classically trained and qualified music teacher and arranger of music. Currently Director of Music at St Mary’s, Kings Worthy, Winchester.

Tutored from a young age including by the late Andrew Ball (professional pianist, former Royal College of Music student, Fellow and Professor of Piano) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Ball_(pianist).  

Debbie is highly talented.  She has accompanied exam students and worked with small ensembles.Debbie has also worked in the music department at Princes Mead School, Winchester where our choir leader Sue Williams is the current Head of Music.
